The Harbour School Sydney

Blue Schools Network

If your school undertakes, or has undertaken, a practical project to engage students in learning about the ocean, harbours or local waterways, you should consider joining the Blue Schools Australia Network.

Aims of the Blue School Australia Network are: to improve ocean literacy; to promote school projects which engage students with the ocean, harbours or local waterways; to improve understanding about the blue economy and opportunities for students to engage with it.

Interested schools and individuals should be committed to engaging students in projects to facilitate learning about issues such as water quality, aquatic and intertidal ecosystems, the interconnectedness between terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, aquatic ecosystem restoration, catchment management, etc.

Schools should be open to exploring the Blue Schools concept more fully, with the possibility of more formalised structures and standards for Blue Schools in the future.

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and recognise their continuing connection with, and knowledge about, land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.

The Harbour School Sydney acknowledges the Cammeraygal people of the Eora Nation, the Traditional Owners of the land and waters where we work and learn. We are committed to fostering partnerships that unite us in our stewardship of the ocean.
