The Harbour School Sydney

Geographical Investigation - Stage 6 Geography

This excursion for Year 11 Geography explores the requirements of completing a Geographical Investigation and how to plan and undertake fieldwork independently. The excursion takes place at Chowder Bay, where students will learn about fieldwork techniques and how to carry out an investigation. Class teachers may decide that all students use Chowder Bay as the focus of their investigation, or they can learn fieldwork techniques that they can then apply at at a field site of their choice.

Students will be led through how to iterate ideas for research, develop a plan for inquiry, consider ethical issues, collect primary data, process secondary data and present findings and propose recommendations. This is an ideal session to run at the beginning of Year 11 to assist students as they begin planning their Geographic Investigation.

Options are available for this excursions to operate in a location closer to your school.
