Green Square - Stage 6 Geography
The suburb of Green Square, located in Sydney's inner south, has been transformed from an industrial area into a modern urban precinct dominated by high-density residential towers with green spaces, recreational facilities, and world-class community facilities. It's connectivity and economic significance are enhanced by its close proximity to the Sydney CBD and major transport links. Demographic changes have seen Green Square transform into a culturally diverse, vibrant community and cosmopolitan centre. Residential and commercial developments have encouraged economic growth, while gentrification and infrastructure demands have created some challenges.
Sustainability initiatives incorporated into the design of Green Square and its buildings include water-sensitive urban design, green infrastructure, energy-efficient buildings, integration of renewal energy, active and public transport, heritage preservation and community engagement.
