Operation Crayweed Comic
Crayweed is an important species that promotes biodiversity and provides shelter, habitat and food for many aquatic species. Abalone and crayfish are examples of species reliant on Crayweed.
Over time Sydney’s Crayweed was impacted by poor water quality and pollution. As the harbour has become cleaner, efforts to restore Crayweed forests are experiencing success. Operation Crayweed is an ecosystem restoration project to reforest by planting reproductive Crayweed in temporary mats affixed to rocks. These reproductive Crayweed produce “craybies” - Crayweed babies. Download the Operation Crayweed cartoon. |
