Saltmarsh
Saltmarsh can refer both to the individual plants and the environment.
Saltmarshes occupy the high tide zone and include plants such as sedges, rushes, reeds, grasses, herbs and shrubs.
- The main plant of a salt marsh is salt-tolerant sedges (a type of grass or rush).
- They tolerate high levels of salinity and inundation by water.
- Low vegetation and some bare patches.
- Occur behind, upslope of mangroves.
